Description
You don’t need any prior pottery experience – I take you through the hand-building techniques, including “pinching” to create the sheep’s body, then forming the head, ears, arms & legs, and finally adding texture to decorate. One of the oldest pottery techniques, “pinching” is using your thumbs and fingers to squeeze and pinch the clay into shape.
I will carefully dry, fire, add the sheep colour wash and re-fire your animal, before threading it with twine, ready for you to dangle your creation.
Made from stoneware clay, your dangly sheep can be hung indoors or outside. If outside, you may wish to replace the twine with a fully weather resistant hanging loop.
You’re welcome to tell me your preferred date/time first so I can check prior to booking. I can do daytime/evening and weekend sessions to suit (subject to my availability of course – some weekends I am busy at events).
The drying and firing processes take a number of weeks to complete. I’ll let you know when your sheep are ready for collection, or I can arrange delivery for a small additional charge. Usually approx 6-8 weeks after your workshop.
This session is not suitable for younger children – please check with me prior to booking to confirm suitability for your young people. Comprehensive school age upwards works best really. All children must be accompanied / supervised throughout. We use some sharp tools.

- Session length is approx 2 – 2.5 hours for 1-2 people, longer for larger groups
- Adults, teens & older kids (please check suitability for younger children with me before booking)
