Pottery Workshop – Make a Mug or Bowl

Join me for a pottery workshop making your very own mug or snack bowl:

You don’t need any prior pottery experience – I take you through the hand-building techniques; “pinching” to create the mug body, then rolling and forming the handle, attaching that to the mug body and finally adding your choice of decoration by carving, scoring, stamping and paint the mug with slips. If you don’t fancy a mug, you can create a snack bowl instead.

One of the oldest pottery techniques, “pinching” is using your thumbs and fingers to squeeze and pinch the clay into shape. Depending on your desired finish, you can then use tools to refine the edges and surface of the clay.

Made from stoneware clay, I will carefully dry, fire, glaze and re-fire your mug or bowl so it’s ready to give you many years of drinking or snacking enjoyment.

Please note that the drying and firing processes take a number of weeks to complete. I’ll let you know when your mug is ready for collection, or I can arrange delivery for a small additional charge. Usually approx 6-8 weeks after your workshop.
